emailMyIP is a browser-based free service to keep you notified by email of any changes to a remote PC's Internet Protocol (IP) address. Its most useful application is in accessing the desktop of a remote PC, for example by using MicroSoft Remote Desktop Connection, although other applications that may need to access another service on a remote PC can be used.
Why is it needed?
The IP addresses that most people and small businesses are provided by their Internet Service Providers (ISPs) are dynamic, i.e., the IP address assigned to a given client (i.e., a remote PC or more typically to a router to which the remote PC is connected) is not fixed and may be changed at any moment. Once such a change occurs, it will no longer be possible to use Remote Desktop Connection to connect to this remote PC. Here comes emailMyIP service, which will provide you with the updated IP address of a remote PC for free and ensure your access to the remote PC. Alternative approaches to solving the problem with having dynamic IP addresses may utilize a "dynamic domain name server" (DDNS) service, such as "noip" or "no-ip"; however this type of approach is not a satisfactory solution for many individuals/companies, since it involves running an essentially unknown program on your PC, and in essence can cause your PC to be unprotected and exposed to unrestricted public access.

Tips for using emailMyIP
(1) When you click the "submit" button, your browser may prompt if you want the browser to remember the password, you can choose "remember" or "never ask again". Choose one of these options so that the browser will not ask you again.
(2) If the remote PC loses Internet connection for some period, emailMyIP will try to restore the service whenever the PC is re-connected. During the down time, emailMyIP will show a message indicating the lost connection; however, you do not need to do anything to restore the emailMyIP service.
